The harvest — something agriculture has experienced since the beginning of time — is the culmination of all of your work in planning, zoning, buying land, obtaining financing, constructing facilities, training staff, acquiring genetics, cloning, vegetative and flowering growth, and countless other activities.

Reaping the fruits of your labor is not an easy process, but rather one fraught with risk, potentially causing high levels of stress if not thoughtfully designed. Poor harvesting techniques may lower the harvest’s quality, which ultimately impacts your financial bottom line and can create potential brand and even industry damage with distribution of low-quality products.

MOMAX3 Moringa pods @ ripening stage

When Moringa fruits ( Pods) become brown and dry, they are ready for harvest. The fruit, commonly termed pods, depending on the degree of ripeness, turn from green to yellow bright to or brown or dark red — the unripe ones being green in colour. Pods ripen faster under lower altitudes and higher temperatures. Moringa pods can be hand-harvested by people to ensure that only the ripe pods are picked. Hand-picking is a hard and labour intensive process where people need to carefully check pods for ripeness and, naturally, it involves paid labor. Pods mature at different periods and up to three pickings are needed to clear a farm.

During seed development, seeds on the mother plant progressively gain the ability to germinate and the capacity to produce the Seed vigour then progressively increases to physiological maturity (PM), the point of maximum seed. Seed vigour can continue to increase after severing the connection with the mother plant and so PM can occur after mass maturity (MM; maxim um seed dry weight) and usually before harvest maturity (HM; seeds first have to dry on the mother plant)

The vigour of seed lots has a mean and distribution that should be evaluated in order to determine the probability of the response of seeds to the environment. We report how this approach has supported innovations in seed technology, and will underpin future progress in the genetic enhancement of seed performance.

For determining the best seed to buy is the “pure live seed” rating. The pure live seed (PLS) percentage indicates the relative germination values of seed lots and reflects both germination rate and purity. The PLS rating is calculated by multiplying the purity percentage by the germination percentage, where both values are expressed as decimals.

In case of MOMAX3® example, seed with 99 percent purity and 95 percent germination rate has a pure live seed rating of:

.99 (purity) x .95 (germination) = .94 pure live seed

This is highest in all available Moringa seed varieties

To ensure that our seed germination rates remain optimal, we store our seed in a climate-controlled environment. Our Quality Assurance Department will only release seed lots that meet our stringent requirements.

Building efficiency into the physical and logistical details of harvesting Moringa pods, drying and process for seeds, handling fresh harvested seeds for cleaning, sorting and grading and storing the final dried and cured seeds help us to streamline our operation as the industry scales into a standardized and commercialized Moringa sector, this becomes even more important for us.

Drying and storage require simple, yet refined systems that use physical space and material work flow to produce a high-caliber final product. These spaces need to be designed with optimal temperature and humidity considerations, and controls in mind.

Once cutting down, harvesting and processing is accomplished, it is critical that adequate space has been designated for finalizing the material into a marketable product.

MOMAX3® Moringa commercial cultivator thus, we bring to market for our valued customers for plantation for seed oil purpose.
